Shihan Kenji Midori was born on the 18th of April,
1962 on Amami Islands, Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture.
In 1978 he moved to Tokyo, where he began
studying Kyokushinkai.
Shihan Kenji Midori is 165 cm tall and weighs 70 kg, he had to struggle to dominate much heavier athletes.
He was anyway able to benefit from his height and managed to win many Open competitions and even the prestigious World Championship.
After an intense and successful competitive period, he began teaching in his hometown in Fukuoka Prefecture and Amami.
In 2003 he was elected president of former IKO2. He decided to change its name to WKO, to use kanji and different symbols, and to transform the organization into NPO, or
non-profit organization.
In fact, WKO is a non-profit association, a periodical meeting takes place and there the Steering Committee and the President are re-elected.

1978: he begins studying Kyokushinkai Karate;
1980: 1st place in the Tournament of Chiba Prefecture;
1983: 1st place in the Nishi Nihon Torunament;
1984: ranked among top 8 to 1th All Japan Weight Division, lightweights;
1985: 1st place in All Japan 2th Division, lightweights;
1985: 5th place and Best Fighting Spirit in All Japan;
1987: 4th place in All Japan, lightweights;
1987: he is elected among top 16 fighters and best technical in the 4th WorldTournament;
1988: he got married on December 4;
1990: 1st place in the 7th All-Japan Weight Tournament;
1990: 2nd place in the All Japan Open Tournament;
1991: 1st place in the 5th World tounament;
2002: 6th Dan, on November 26;
2003: The Birth of WKO;
Kenji Midori has two sons and a daughter.
